Katherine van der Woude

Research Biologist at Aqua-Yield

Katherine van der Woude has a diverse work experience in the field of research and academia. Katherine started their career as a Teaching Assistant at Iowa State University in 2013 and worked there until 2015. During their time at the International Potato Center (CIP) in 2015, they served as a Gene Bank Intern, where they were involved in various gene preservation techniques and independent experiments on potato tissue culture storage methods. Katherine then worked as a Research Intern at FAO for two months in 2015. From 2018 to 2020, Katherine worked as a Research Assistant 2 at UConn Extension, focusing on research projects. Katherine then joined the Colorado School of Mines in 2020 as a Research Support II in Civil and Environmental Engineering until April 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Research Biologist at Aqua-Yield, starting in April 2022.

Katherine van der Woude pursued their education in the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering and sustainable agriculture. Katherine completed their Master of Science degree in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, at Iowa State University - College of Engineering from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy and Agroecology from the same institution, studying at the College of Engineering from 2012 to 2016.
