R. Martine Similien

Chief Scientist at Aquatech Bioenergy

Dr. Similien has been the Chief Scientist at Aquatech BioEnergy since April 2014. She earned her Ph.D. at South Dakota State University in 2010 specializing in forage and biofuel crop breeding and genetics. She is experienced in the microbiological assessment of feedlot effluents. At Aquatech she is responsible for the development of new methods in renewable biofuels production and in wastewater management. Her current projects in the lab include testing the antimicrobial effects of Sago Pondweed in wastewater. She also works on plant propagation, testing of growth stimulants, and methods to enhance aquatic biomass and stimulate consumption of CO2.
