POSITION SUMMARY

A&R Solar is seeking an experienced General Journeyman to join our Service Department. The Solar Service Electrician provides high-quality operations and maintenance (O&M) services for residential and commercial photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role emphasizes troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and warranty service to ensure peak performance and longevity of PV installations. As a key field representative of A&R Solar, this position combines technical expertise, strong customer service, and safety leadership to deliver reliable service to clients. The Journeyman Electrician will work closely with Project Managers and apprentices, driving a standard of excellence in both technical work and customer interactions. This role is crucial in supporting A&R Solar's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and maintaining our reputation for quality and reliability in solar O&M services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing post installation service work on residential and commercial photovoltaic (PV) systems, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with electrical components, modules, inverters, monitoring systems, storage systems and EV charging infrastructure.
  • Executing warranty service tasks to ensure continued optimal performance of PV systems, including component replacements and system inspections.
  • Mounting inverters and laying out electrical components with a focus on clean, efficient, and organized design for ease of future maintenance.
  • Bending and routing conduit and cabling to meet both structural and aesthetic standards, ensuring longevity in various environments.
  • Conducting preventive maintenance inspections on PV systems, checking for wear, potential issues, and ensuring compliance with code and safety standards.
  • Training and mentoring technicians as electrical apprentices to maintain high standards in quality and safety across all maintenance and service operations.
  • Interpreting PV line drawings, product literature, warranty documentation, and referencing the NEC to troubleshoot and verify system specifications, while ensuring national & local code compliant work
  • Commissioning PV systems post-maintenance, conducting owner walkthroughs, and educating customers on system operations and performance monitoring.
  • Diligent documentation of site visit details, client communication, system diagnostics, and manufacturer correspondence.
  • Enforcing OSHA standards, company safety programs, and policies specific to O&M services, ensuring all personnel adhere to safety protocols.
  • Representing A&R Solar in the field as a primary point of contact, ensuring a professional and customer-oriented experience.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers to support site assessments, surveys and estimates.
  • Complete trainings to obtain manufacturers’ certifications across a multitude of manufacturers and energy infrastructures as required.
  • Supporting PV & Storage  Install Teams, as needed, to complete system installations.
  • Occasionally travel and stay out of town for up to days at a time.

  

REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of electrical, building, and roofing systems.

  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools used in PV system analysis and performance evaluation.

  • Experience working safely in various weather conditions and environmental extremes (e.g., hot sun, attics, crawl spaces, wind, rain).

  • Previous experience in the solar industry and sales experience preferred.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders and roofs.

  • Ability to operate hand-held and power tools specific to solar/electrical installation

REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Must hold and maintain current Oregon General Journeyman Electrician License.

  • Must maintain a current driver’s license.

  • OSHA 10 Certification required within 6 months; OSHA 30 is preferred.

  • NFPA 70e Certification required within 6 months.
