Ryan Ulbrich

Ryan Ulbrich is a director on Arabella’s Advisory team. He works with various philanthropies to develop grant-making strategies; design, launch, and implement new initiatives and organizations; convene learning and working groups; and oversee donor collaboratives to advance common goals. He manages projects and advises clients on a variety of issues, including food and nutrition, education, community and economic development, social entrepreneurship, and public health.

Prior to joining Arabella, Ryan was an executive advisor to chief ethics officers at the business consulting firm CEB (now Gartner). There, he managed a portfolio of Fortune 500 companies in the technology, consumer products, health care, and retail industries, and advised on functional issues such as corporate integrity, corruption, data privacy, risk management, and governance. Ryan also worked for Podesta Group, a public and government relations firm in Washington, DC, and was a member of the business development, marketing, and communications team at Dickstein Shapiro LLP. Additionally, he spent several years as a consultant to the Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities and Miriam’s Kitchen.

Ryan currently serves as a board member of Unicorn Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit serving neurodiverse children and young adults with developmental or learning challenges and helping families to navigate their journeys. Previously, he was a board member of City Blossoms, a community development nonprofit that fosters well-being at the nexus of urban gardening, the arts, and healthy living, and a community board member of Enstitute, the first national apprenticeship program for 21st-Century careers in business, technology, and entrepreneurship. In 2012, he founded Raise Your City, a social enterprise and fundraising group that produced music- and arts-based benefit events and ran digital advocacy campaigns for a portfolio of nonprofit organizations in Washington, DC.

Ryan earned a BA in philosophy with minors in art history and non-violence studies from Elon University.
