Job description

Aravaipa Running is an event management company specializing in endurance running events. We are looking for team members to join our timing team during race weekends. Candidates must be able to work with our in house race timing software, work alongside our race directors at events in the timing tent near the start/finish line & be able to deploy equipment to several locations on race day. 

The Timing Crew is expected to have a handle on the race timing plan on race weekend, understand the flow of each race course and be able to assist with on site customer service questions to take some of the burden off the race director. They will be working collaboratively with a variety of staff to fulfill the requirements of their role. 

Responsibilities

The following is a list of some of the typical functions of the Timing Crew position for any given day. 

  • Deployment & setup of timing hardware on race day

  • Managing the timing of the race through our in house timing software on race day

  • Entering race day registrations into the software system

  • Answering customer service questions at the timing tent on race day

  • Assisting race director with proper distribution of podium awards on race day

  • Tracking of race day runner flow & final runner on course

  • Setting up of timing/tech around start/finish line village

    • Wifi / mobile hotspot / antennas
    • POS system
    • Timing system set up
    • Race clock
    • T.V screens/Ipads
  • Monitoring (in real time) accuracy of timing and results on race day

  • Quickly troubleshooting any issues presented on race weekend

  • Interacting with participants and spectators that have questions regarding timing/results

  • Ensuring that results are available live and uploaded to any applicable results portals post-race

  • Organizing, charging, and properly putting away timing equipment post-race if required

Requirements

  • Exemplary time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others
  • Preferred: experience with WordPress, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Calendar
  • Understanding of computer networking basics is a plus
