Wei Hopeman is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Arbor Ventures and has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, technology and as an entrepreneur. Prior to Arbor, Wei was the Managing Director and Head of Asia for Citi Ventures, Citigroup’s strategic venture investment and innovation arm. She established the group in Asia to invest in and partner with startups innovating in financial services, payments, digital commerce and Big Data. Additionally, she was responsible for the internal innovation team that incubated new technologies, designed new products and go-to-market models at Citi to accelerate disruption from within. She currently serves on the board of Abra, Akulaku, Quottly and Silot.
Wei brings with her a unique set of experiences and perspectives in finance and technology spanning the Silicon Valley, Greater China and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Citi, she established the China office for Jefferies & Company and was a technology investment banker in the Silicon Valley with Goldman Sachs. Wei began her investing career with Dimensional Fund Advisors where she helped to establish the firm’s Asia presence and invested across eight Asian markets. She also co-founded Asia Pacific Land, a leading real estate investment firm in Asia.
Wei has a BA from Pomona College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is a member of the board of directors at Booking Holdings and a founding member of the Internet Brokerage Committee, an advisory body to the Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission. Wei was formerly a member of the New Ventures Advisory Council at McKinsey & Co and the former Vice Chair of Women in Leadership (China), the premiere network of female entrepreneurs. She has been recognized as a Top 100 Influencers in Fintech (NxtBnk), AlwaysOn Fintech Power Player, as well as one of the 7 leaders changing the face of Fintech in Asia (E27) and one of the top 38 Fintech Influencers in Asia (FintechAsia).
