Desmond Maharaj

Desmond Maharaj is an accomplished business executive with extensive experience in financial management and operations across multiple sectors. Currently serving as CFO at ArcelorMittal South Africa since October 2018, Desmond previously held key leadership roles, including Country Head for Dangote Industries Limited in Zambia and General Manager for the Cement product line at Lafarge. Desmond's background includes significant positions at Eskom, where responsibilities ranged from Chief Financial Officer of Eskom Enterprises to Group Financial Manager, overseeing financial statements and working capital management across several African nations. Desmond's career began at PwC as a Graduate Trainee, and Desmond holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of Johannesburg and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of South Africa.
