Youp Suurmeijer

Youp Suurmeijer has extensive work experience in the field of machine learning and data science. Youp currently serves as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and team lead for the Machine Learning & Simulations team at Archangel Imaging, where they have been involved in building the team from the ground up. Prior to this, they worked as a Machine Learning Research Engineer at Archangel Imaging and GMV NSL, where they focused on developing deep learning solutions for satellite data and research projects in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA).

Before joining Archangel Imaging and GMV NSL, Youp worked at Bright Cape as a Lead Data Scientist, Founding Consultant, and Process Mining Consultant. Youp played a crucial role in utilizing data science and analytics to optimize processes and improve experiences in various domains such as manufacturing, logistics, finance, and healthcare. Youp also worked as a Data Scientist at ASML and Swinkels Family Brewers, where they conducted web scraping and used machine learning techniques for data analysis.

Youp Suurmeijer's career began with their entrepreneurial venture as the founder of 'tAccess', a BI platform for the taxi industry at Nsuring. Youp also gained research intern experience at Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center Maastricht NV, focusing on the application of machine learning algorithms to business performance classification.

Outside of their professional endeavors, Youp has held leadership positions in organizations such as Zeilschool 't Vossenhol and Eindhovens Studenten Corps, where they served as President of the student association E.S.C.

Youp Suurmeijer began their education at Maurick College (Gymnasium) from 2005 to 2011. Youp then attended Eindhoven University of Technology from 2011 to 2016, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Innovation Sciences. Youp continued their education at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics from 2016 to 2017, earning a Master of Science (MS) degree in Econometrics and Operations Research. Lastly, they studied at HEC Montréal from 2017 to 2018, focusing on International Business and Strategy.
