Benjamin tenOever

Co-founder and consultant at Archean Biologics

Benjamin tenOever's work experience includes founding and consulting for Archean Biologics. Benjamin is currently a Professor at New York University and serves as the Director of The VIRION (The VIRology Institute of NYU). Previously, they worked as a Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where their research focused on cellular defense systems against viruses. Benjamin also served as the Director of the Virus Engineering Center for Therapeutics and Research (VECToR) at Mount Sinai, where they utilized advanced gene synthesis platforms and reverse genetic systems for synthetic virology applications. In addition, they mentored the Urban Barcode Research Project at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and was a Steering Committee Member at The New York Academy of Sciences.

Benjamin tenOever attended McGill University for their undergraduate studies. After completing their Bachelor's degree, they continued their education at McGill University, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medicine. Upon completing their PhD, they joined Harvard University as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
