Daniel Garcia has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Daniel is currently working at Arcturus Therapeutics as a Scientist II, where they started in December 2022 after being in the role of Scientist I from May 2021 to December 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from July 2018 to April 2021.
In addition, Daniel was a Member of the Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Society from October 2018 to October 2020. Daniel also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California San Diego from April 2018 to July 2018 and as a Graduate Student Researcher from August 2012 to April 2018. During their time as a Graduate Student Researcher, they received the HHMI Gilliam Fellowship for advanced study and conducted research on the impact of the ubiquitin-proteasome system on breast cancer cell metastasis.
Daniel was also an Associate Member of the American Association for Cancer Research from April 2015 to April 2018. Daniel served as a Howar Hughes Medical Institute Gilliam Fellow from September 2012 to September 2017, supporting diversity in scientific leadership.
Before that, Daniel worked as a Post-Baccalaureate Fellow at the National Institutes of Health from July 2010 to July 2012, where they researched the role of motor protein myosin II in cell migration. Daniel presented their findings at scientific retreats and meetings.
Additionally, they conducted Senior Thesis Research at Harvey Mudd College from August 2009 to May 2010, focusing on mercury resistance genes. Daniel also served as a Summer Research Assistant at UCSF in June 2009 and as a Research Assistant at Harvey Mudd College from September 2008 to May 2009.
Daniel Garcia attended UC San Diego from 2012 to 2018, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Harvey Mudd College from 2006 to 2010, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology.
