Sean Sullivan has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Sean began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the California Institute of Technology in 1984. Sean then worked as a Senior Scientist at Vestar/Nexstar/Gilead from 1987 to 1991. After that, they served as a Senior Scientist at Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals/SIRNA/Merck from 1991 to 1994. Following this, they held managerial positions at Somatix/Cell Genesys from 1994 to 1997 and Valentis/Genemedicine from 1997 to 2000. In 2000, Sean joined the University of Florida College of Pharmacy as an Associate Professor. Sean worked there until 2007. From 2006 to 2019, they held the role of Senior Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Process Development at Vical. Since 2019, they have been working at Arcturus Therapeutics, first as a Senior Research Fellow and currently as the Vice President and Head of Technology Innovation.
Sean Sullivan has a diverse education history in the field of science. Sean completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Maryville College from 1970 to 1974. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where they earned both their Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Biochemistry from 1978 to 1984. Sean Sullivan then embarked on a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Caltech, specializing in Biophysics and Biochemistry, which they successfully completed from 1984 to 1987.
