Alli Jernow has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of social justice and philanthropy. Alli currently holds the position of Vice President, Social Justice at the Arcus Foundation since September 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Program Director at the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund from January 2018 to September 2022, and from September 2014 to December 2017. Alli also served as a Senior Legal Advisor at Justice For All from January 2014 to June 2014. Furthermore, Jernow held the role of Senior Legal Advisor at the International Commission of Jurists from July 2009 to June 2013, and as a Human Rights Consultant at various organizations including ILO, OSCE, ODIHR, OHCHR from February 2007 to July 2009. Alli began their career as a Federal Prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice from May 2000 to January 2007, where they specialized in investigating and prosecuting cases related to civil rights violations. Prior to that, they worked as an Attorney-Adviser at the U.S. Department of State from September 1998 to April 2000. Furthermore, they gained valuable legal experience as a Law Clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals D.C. Circuit from 1997 to 1998, and as an Asia Researcher at the Committee to Protect Journalists from 1991 to 1993.
Alli Jernow completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at Harvard University from 1985 to 1990. Alli then pursued a Master of International Affairs degree at Columbia | SIPA, specializing in International Affairs, from 1993 to 1994. Following that, they attended New York University School of Law from 1994 to 1997, where they earned a Juris Doctor degree with Summa Cum Laude distinction. Their field of study during law school was Public International Law & Human Rights.
