Senior Mechanical Engineer at Arieca

Loren Russell has worked as a Mechanical Engineer since 2013. From 2013 to 2015, they worked at MEMA Engineering, LLC as a Mechanical Engineer, collaborating with Industrial Designers to generate product concepts and prototypes, designing parts that were injection molded, machined, and sheet metal formed, and working with EE's to integrate electrical and mechanical components. From 2015 to 2017, they worked at Fifth Season as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. From 2015 to 2016, they were a Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University studying liquid metal actuators, building an optical test stand, and deriving analytical models. Loren was also Lead Braking Engineer at CMU Hyperloop from 2015 to 2016, researching eddy current braking and Halbach arrays and utilizing simulation data and test setups to determine braking force. From 2016 to 2017, they were a Vehicle Engineering Intern at SpaceX, responsible for several parts and components in life support and environmental control systems. Since 2022, they have been a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Arieca Inc.

Loren Russell obtained a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelors of Science in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley from 2010 to 2012. Loren also completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Film and Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2007 to 2010.
