Director of K-12 Online School

Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS), our state’s first approved autism-focused charter, also has a state approved Arizona Online Instruction (AOI) Program for K-12 students.

This position will have an onsite office, near the AZACS Main Campus in Central Phoenix and work on the executive leadership team.  As a key leader of the AZACS online schools, this position will align AZACS online offerings to replicate the instructional practices of the in-person programs in an online environment and set a strategy for the charter’s online programming.   

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the employees assigned to the Online School in partnership with the Assistant Director(s) of Special Education for the Online School.

  • Coaches, monitors, and mentors special education teachers/classroom teachers working with students with disabilities in the online environment.

Duties:  

  • Facilitate work and research to determine best practices in virtual teaching and learning for various levels of students with learning disabilities

  • Research, propose and potentially implement other innovative learning models to address community needs such as micro-schools, hybrid models, blended learning

  • Set online enrollment goals and grow the online enrollment strategically and sustainably

  • Create partnerships with various universities and colleges to enable a pipeline of employees and career pathways

  • Collaborate with the Talent Management Director to build partnerships that attract and retain staff and build career pathways

  • Provide input and participate in establishing policies and procedures for the online school

  • Oversee the daily operations of the online K-12 school programming

  • Ensure online teachers are using and maintaining Student Digital Portfolios that include, weekly assignments, updated data tracking sheets, assessments and samples of completed work

  • Ensure collected work is documented by the teacher and students are given credit for assignments

  • Strong adherence to policies as outlined in the AZACS Employee Manual & Instruction and Alignment Manual

  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance

  • Other duties as assigned by the administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in school leadership at an administrative level, including online learning

  • Valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card

  • Master’s Degree or higher

  • Experience in online schooling/teaching

Required:

  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Positions in this class require:  stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work:  

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 

Working Conditions:  

Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
