Rusty D. Crandell

Deputy General Counsel at Arizona State Senate

Rusty D. Crandell currently serves as the Deputy General Counsel for the Arizona State Senate, a position held since January 2023. Prior to this role, Crandell was a Judge at Maricopa County Superior Court from October 2020 to December 2022 and worked at the Arizona Attorney General's Office from January 2016 to September 2020 as Deputy Solicitor General and Chief Counsel of the Federalism Unit, as well as Assistant Solicitor General. Crandell's experience also includes serving as Counsel and Associate at Perkins Coie LLP from September 2008 to December 2015, a Law Clerk for The Honorable Roslyn O. Silver at the United States District Court from September 2007 to August 2008, and a Summer Law Intern at the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division. Additional experience includes positions as a Summer Associate at Snell & Wilmer and a Legal Extern for The Honorable Daniel A. Barker and Senator Jon Kyl. Crandell obtained a Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Arizona State University.
