Carlos Ramirez

Carlos Ramirez has extensive experience in the engineering field with a strong focus on composite materials. Carlos has served as the Director of Engineering at Arkansas State University, where they lead the Engineering department and establishes collaborations with industry. Prior to this, Carlos worked as an Assistant Professor at the university, playing a vital role in defining programs and syllabi for Mechanical Engineering students.

Carlos has also worked as a Visiting Teacher at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where they taught various engineering topics and guided research dissertations for MSc students. Additionally, they worked as the Founder and Managing Director at Orange Composites, managing a team of engineers and providing solutions in the Composite Materials field for local companies.

Carlos began their career as a Researcher at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, conducting material analysis for the Biotechnology department. Here, they focused on edible films made of Whey Protein Isolate and their mechanical properties for food packaging.

Carlos Ramirez holds a PhD in Engineering, Composite Materials from the University of Warwick, which they obtained between 2002 and 2007. Prior to their doctoral studies, they completed an MSc in Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the same institution in 2002. In 1999, Carlos earned a BSc in Industrial Robotics from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. Carlos has also obtained additional certifications, including being a SNI Candidato a Investigador Nacional from CONACyT in 2009 and being Green Belt certified by General Electric.
