David Povlitz

David Povlitz is a seasoned fire service professional with extensive experience in leadership roles. Currently serving as Fire Chief at the Arlington County Fire Department since October 2018, David previously held the position of Assistant Fire Chief at the Alexandria Fire Department from March 2016 to October 2018, where oversight of logistics, finance, human resources, and IT functions was a primary responsibility. Prior to that, David served as Division Chief at the Anne Arundel County Fire Department for over 21 years, leading fire operations and managing various internal processes including budget development and personnel training. David holds a Master of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and has further educational background from the University of Delaware and The George Washington University.
