Business Development Lead

Operations · Full-time · Piedmont, Italy

Job description

This role is UK based, remote first

About us

We are a team of highly experienced software engineers and hands-on coaches who move fast to solve our clients needs by providing bespoke consultancy, training, and pairing to upskill teams and  deliver effective change.

Our aim is to identify the gaps in the client’s engineering capability and then work to transfer our skills, knowledge, and experience to their organisation. We provide repeatable patterns and behaviours to create sustainable change and build a culture of continuous improvement.

Armakuni currently operates a primarily practitioner-led sales model. Until now, we have brought most of our business in through referrals and network-driven sales. Word-of-mouth about the great work we do and the impact we have has been enough to drive our pipeline. As we move into a period of growth we are looking to increase the number of avenues we have to bring new work into the business. Which is where you come in!

About the role

You will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities with Leaders of software engineering functions.

Your role will be to understand Armakuni’s propositions, to build an understanding of where they fit in the market, and to use your creativity and interpersonal skills to successfully bring the two together. Once that first introduction is made, you will hand over to a highly experienced team of practitioners to get into the deep opportunity exploration.

We’re looking for a highly motivated and creative individual to introduce Armakuni and what we do to potential clients and help us to have more early conversations.

Primary function

  • Build and execute go to market(GTM)/sales strategy for clients outside of our existing network

  • Research potential clients and create SQLs

  • Take SQLs and turn them into meetings for AK principals

Secondary Functions

  • Provide support on sales through to completion

  • Support sales process as a whole - hygiene around hubspot, CRM, etc

  • Keep sales dashboards and reporting current and up to date

What you’ll bring to the role

As this is a new role for Armakuni, we're looking for someone with a strong background in business development.

Our culture is all about collaboration, learning, and growing through iteration. So whilst you'll be building our pipeline and qualifying your leads, you won't be doing it alone. Business development is a part of everyone’s role at Armakuni, and we have a fantastic team of experienced practitioners that will be supporting you.

You’ll bring either a background in software engineering/tech, or a passion for it. In particular, you’ll be able to demonstrate experience in developing and executing strategies that result in quality leads, and then converting these.

  • You’re passionate about sales. You have a natural curiosity, and an ability to research and build understanding of our target markets as you build your GTM strategy

  • You’ll be a natural networker - this role requires you to identify and make initial contact with senior leaders in the tech space

  • Great communication skills are going to be required here, from active listening through to copy writing and creating engaging content

  • Whilst a tech background would be great, we’ll consider someone from other backgrounds who has a passion for tech and a desire to absorb and learn quickly

  • You have the organisational ability to set your own agenda, collaborating closely with others will enable you to get the most from yourself and the team around you

  • This is a new function for us, so whilst you’ll get a lot of support, there will be challenges to overcome too. A certain amount of resilience will be needed, and you’ll be the sort of person that thrives on a challenge

  • Getting out there and contacting people will be a key driver for you, you’ll also be adept at managing and using a CRM (we use Hubspot). You’ll be leading our outbound sales, but it’s a team effort, so visibility and data integrity are going to be really important too

Armakuni is a remote first business, so you’ll be based from home, but of course regular travel to attend events and meet with clients will be a part of this role.

  • We really care about our people, so we offer a host of health and wellbeing related benefits, including; Wellbeing allowance, BUPA private health cover, critical illness cover, access to SPILL therapy, GP24 and various others

This is not just a legal obligation to provide reasonable adjustments but an opportunity to offer the best experience possible for all.
