Alex Nicholson

Alex is a Chartered Tax Adviser who joined Armstrong Watson in 2018 after spending ten years across two Big 4 firms where he advised on VAT, Customs Duty and other Indirect Taxes across a range of sectors and industries for clients ranging from private individuals, to owner managed businesses, to some of the world’s largest listed entities. He leads our VAT and Indirect Tax practice and looks to provide commercial, pragmatic advice focussed on mitigating the impact of VAT on businesses as a cost, cash flow issue, area of risk or administrative burden. Alex has broad advisory experience, but has specialist knowledge of advising manufacturers, retailers, charities and education providers, as well as detailed knowledge of the key VAT issues surrounding M&A transactions, residential and commercial property, pension funds and cross-border business.

Outside the office, he is a big Liverpool FC fan and cricket lover.
