Jim Meakin

Jim is a Tax Partner and Head of Tax at Armstrong Watson. He has previously held a number of senior positions with a large international accounting firm including National Head of Tax, Head of the firm’s London tax practice and Managing Partner of the Newcastle office.

Jim is able to bring to bear his experience gained in managing sizeable business units and growing and developing teams to solving clients’ tax problems with a practical commercial style. He particularly works with entrepreneurial businesses and their owners and management to help manage succession, exit and the delivery of value. Jim sees tax as a tool to help solve wider business challenges. He has enjoyed working with numerous businesses in the region on a long term basis as a real trusted adviser.

Away from the office Jim lives in the Tyne Valley. He enjoys good food and red wine and pursues a number of interests including adding to his largely obscure record collection, and playing and acquiring guitars and related equipment whilst promising his long-suffering wife Joanne that he will eventually free up some of the space it all takes.
