Joerg Ruschel has a diverse work experience in the field of neuroscience. Joerg began their career in 2014 as a Postdoc at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, where they conducted basic research on spinal cord injury pathology and development of novel therapeutic strategies to promote axon regeneration after central nervous system injury. In 2015, they joined BioAxone BioSciences, Inc. as a Senior Scientist and Research Scientist. In 2018, they moved to Wave Life Sciences as a Senior Program Manager and Project Manager (Discovery). Currently, they are working at Arrakis Therapeutics as a Director of Program Management and Associate Director of Program Management.
Joerg Ruschel obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology & German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases in 2014, where they studied Neurobiology/Molecular Biomedicine. Prior to that, they completed a Diploma thesis (German equivalent to Master thesis) at the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry in 2008, where they studied Neuroscience and Psychiatry. From 2002 to 2007, they obtained a Diplom rer. nat. (rerum naturalium) from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Műnchen, where they studied Neuroscience, Cell Biology, and Pharmacology.
