Wan Yee Leong

Scientist | Oncology - Discovery Biology at Arrakis Therapeutics

Wan Yee Leong has worked in a variety of roles in the field of biology since 2002. In 2004, they were a Senior Research Officer and Research Officer at the Genome Institute of Singapore, where they developed protocols used on a microarray-based pathogen detection chip, carried out siRNA knock-down assays, and conducted Immunohistochemistry staining to characterize the role of RCP protein in breast cancer progression. In 2009, they were an Application Manager in Biology at Curiox Biosystem, where they led and developed cell-based miniaturization assays using the DropArray System and conducted beta-testing of the DropArray Microplate and Washing Station. In 2011, they were a Graduate Student Researcher at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where they studied the regulations of RUNX1 and CEBPA transcription factors that mediate maturation of granulocytes. Wan Yee also served as a Graduate Student Tutor in the Pathobiology Graduate Program. In 2015, they were a Summer Program Teaching Assistant at Johns Hopkins University, where they taught two sessions of lecture and led one session of laboratory to 48 freshmen and advanced pre-college students. In 2016, they were a Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, where they designed and presented pre-clinical models to guide the targeted therapy for RNA splicing factor mutant-associated myeloid blood diseases and leukemia. In 2020, they became a Scientist in Oncology - Discovery Biology at Arrakis Therapeutics.

Wan Yee Leong has an extensive education history. Wan Yee obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Malaya between 1998 and 2001. Wan Yee then went on to earn a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Microbiology and Immunology from the National University of Singapore between 2002 and 2004. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pathobiology from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine between 2011 and 2016. In addition, they obtained a Certification of Competency: Dangerouse Goods Regulations for Transporting Infectious Substances and Diagnostic Specimens by Air from WORLD COURIER SINGAPORE PTE LTD in March 2009.
