Hongruo Yun has extensive experience in the field of scientific research and development. They started their career as an MSc. graduate student at Jinan University, where they discovered novel gene markers of pregnancy-induced hypertension. They then worked as a Research Associate at Jinan University, conducting studies on controlled DNA sequences by Pem protein in male reproductive tissue of mammalian systems.
After completing their MSc., Yun pursued a PhD at the University of Bristol, focusing on the characterization of ADP-ribosylation factor like protein 8b (Arl8b). They designed, produced, and purified recombinant Arl8b protein and investigated its GTP/GDP binding activity.
They continued their research journey as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UC San Diego, where they investigated the effect of GPCRs and cyclic AMP (cAMP) on cardiac fibroblasts. They isolated and cultured primary rat and mouse cardiac fibroblasts and implemented GPCR array to identify novel GPCRs involved in cardiac fibrosis in mice.
Returning to industry, Yun joined Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research as a Scientist II before transitioning to ALSTEM, LLC as a Sr. Scientist and group leader. At ALSTEM, they contributed to research and led a group, focusing on undisclosed projects.
In 2016, Yun joined Adheren Inc. as a Sr. Scientist, contributing their expertise to the company's scientific endeavors. They later moved to Eureka Therapeutics, Inc, where they held several roles including Research Scientist, Research Scientist II, and Research Scientist III. They led groups and projects, specifically working on the development of a gamma/delta TCR-based ARTEMIS AbTCR platform and pipeline development for CAR-T targeting. They developed assays, conducted screenings, and contributed to proprietary technologies to optimize CAR-T activity.
In 2020, Yun worked as a Scientific Consultant at Prolynx before joining ArsenalBio the same year. At ArsenalBio, they held the positions of Senior Scientist, Sr. Scientist II, and currently serve as a Principal Scientist. Their work involves undisclosed projects, and they contribute their expertise to drive scientific advancements in the organization.
Hongruo Yun obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from Jinan University in 1998. Hongruo then pursued a Master of Science degree in Genetics from the same university, which they completed in 2001. Following that, they enrolled at the University of Bristol in 2003, where they obtained their Ph.D. in Cell Biology in 2009.
