Fernando José Suarez Saiz

Fernando José Suarez Saiz has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Fernando José currently holds the position of Director of Clinical & Translational Initiatives at BenchSci, where they lead a team in integrating clinical research data into preclinical workflows using AI and natural language processing. Prior to this, they worked at IBM in various roles, including Deputy Chief Science Officer and Senior Biomedical Scientist, where they led teams and created AI-driven scientific research portfolios. Fernando José also has experience as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the University of Toronto and as a Research Intern at IBM. Starting their career as a General Practitioner at Tezozomoc health center, they later worked as a Content Manager at www.centralmedica.com. Throughout their career, they have focused on biomedical research, informatics, data analysis, and integration, with a specific emphasis on cancer research and genomic analysis.

Fernando José Suarez Saiz obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Toronto, where they studied from 2001 to 2009. Prior to that, they acquired a Physician/Surgeon (MD) degree in Medicine from Universidad Anahuac/ Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico(UNAM) between 1995 and 2000. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications related to healthcare, invention development, people skills, and enterprise design thinking from institutions like IBM and Pragmatic Institute.
