Grayson joined AoPS in 2015. He recently earned his Ph.D. in sociocultural anthropology from the University of California Santa Barbara. Grayson understands culture as the lens through which we assign meaning to the world and everything in it. Culture shapes our perception of reality--how cool is that?! For the past three years, he has been conducting research, writing, and teaching about the various factors contributing to underrepresentation in STEM education and in the workforce. Prior to becoming an anthropologist, Grayson earned a BA in biology from the University of Pennsylvania during a time when he was considering a career in veterinary medicine but then thought better of it. He loves animals (especially dogs), music (especially playing his acoustic guitar), traveling (especially everywhere!), and sports (especially basketball, football, and all professional teams representing Philadelphia, the city that raised him).
