Shannon Christopher Dwyer

Director of in vitro Biology at Artax Biopharma

Shannon Christopher Dwyer has worked in the biopharmaceutical industry since 1998. Theircareer began at Sanofi as a Laboratory Scientist and Automation Expert, where they developed in vitro assays for adaptation to high throughput screening and automated assays to save time and improve performance. Shannon Christopher was also responsible for outfitting a new Oncology in vitro lab, developing new assays, targets, and protein purification methods.

In 2004, Dwyer joined Genzyme as a Senior Research Investigator, a PhD-level position. In this role, they were the In vitro Biology Lead on multiple simultaneous projects in various research stages, progressing them towards pre-clinical development and providing mechanism of action information for clinical candidates. Shannon Christopher also led the transfer of a lab of 15 scientists from New Jersey to Massachusetts and was instrumental in bringing new technologies and techniques to the site and integrating the teams. Additionally, Dwyer served as a Project Team Leader and research investigator, charting the scientific direction of projects and developing key new assays which overcame obstacles to project progression. Shannon Christopher also co-developed a new data analysis system which provided a method whereby scientists worldwide could access each other's data, saving up to a year in early development for many projects.

In 2019, Dwyer joined Artax Biopharma Inc. as the Director of in vitro Biology. In this role, they are responsible for developing and overseeing in vitro assays to confirm compound activity, target engagement and mechanism for the next generation of drugs targeting the interaction between T-cell Receptors (TCR) and Nck, a cytoplasmic adapter protein which plays a role in T-cell activation. Shannon Christopher is also working to provide highly selective control over T-cells through TCR, with the potential to become first-in-class immuno-modulators for the treatment of a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Shannon Christopher Dwyer holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the New Jersey Institute of Technology's Honors College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Shannon Christopher also holds a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Purdue University, with a specialization in Biochemistry.
