Rikiya Yamashita has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical data science and radiology. Rikiya is currently working as the Lead Machine Learning Scientist at Artera since 2022. Prior to this, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Stanford University School of Medicine from 2019 to 2021, where they focused on learning domain-agnostic visual representation for computational pathology. Rikiya has also worked as a Research Fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2017 to 2019, specializing in body imaging. Earlier in their career, they served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine from 2012 to 2013.
Rikiya Yamashita completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine at Kyoto University from 2000 to 2006. Subsequently, they pursued further education at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Science from 2013 to 2017. In addition to their formal education, Yamashita has acquired various certifications. Rikiya obtained their Medical License from the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare of Japan in April 2006. In September 2012, they became a Board Certified Diagnostic Radiologist through the Japanese Board of Radiology. Furthermore, Yamashita completed certifications in Machine Learning and Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in February 2017 and April 2018, respectively. Rikiya also became an International Fellow through fast.ai in April 2018.
