Leslie Newell

VP of Product at Artifact Uprising®

Leslie Newell has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. They started their career as an IT Helpdesk associate at Olin College of Engineering from September 2006 to May 2010. Leslie then worked as a Technical intern at MITRE in 2008 and 2009, where they coordinated various projects and managed teams.

In 2010, Leslie joined athenahealth as a Product Innovation Manager, leading complex technical projects and performing data analysis. They stayed with athenahealth until May 2014.

From May 2014 to January 2016, Leslie worked as a Senior Product Manager at edX, a leading online learning platform. They played a key role in defining product strategy and successfully launching mobile apps and a new Teams feature.

Leslie then joined Wayfair in February 2016 as a Senior Product Manager, focusing on cross-selling. They built strong relationships and became a subject matter expert in e-commerce cross-sell. After leaving Wayfair in October 2017, Leslie became the Director of Product at Bluprint, an NBCUniversal company, leading the product vision and strategy for their lifestyle content platform.

In August 2019, Leslie joined Slack as a Senior Product Manager and championed developer experience initiatives. They played a pivotal role in building and launching Workflow Builder steps from apps, providing users new ways to use Slack apps effectively.

Currently, Leslie is serving as the VP of Product at Artifact Uprising since June 2021. They are part of the executive team, driving vision and strategy for the ecommerce company and managing a team of product managers, designers, and merchandisers. Leslie has also mentored their team and achieved a 15% increase in project start rate through extensive A/B testing.

Leslie Newell completed their high school education at Jim Thorpe Senior High School from 2002 to 2006. Later, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with Computing at Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering from 2006 to 2010. In 2010, they also obtained a Summer Certificate in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the Aquincum Institute of Technology (AIT-Budapest).
