ASUS Orientation Head Gael

The 2024-2025 ASUS Head Gael oversees all aspects of ASUS Orientation Week. This is a volunteer (honorarium) position during the academic year, requiring a commitment of approximately 4 hours per week.

Note: Applications are not to exceed 3 pages total (based on the amount of questions within the application form).

Expected Time Commitment and Renumeration

  • The Head Gael will be paid $529 for the Fall Term and $1125 for the Winter Term (subject to change with provincial minimum wage increase)
  • The Head Gael will be paid up to 35 hours per week at a rate of $19.25 per hour for the summer term (May 1st to September 7th).

Eligible candidates must be in good academic standing in the Faculty of Arts and Science, and be entering at least their third academic year in the September of Orientation Week they would oversee.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of ASUS Orientation for around 2,000 incoming first-year students
  • Regularly meet with the ASUS President to provide updates
  • Oversee the Orientation Committee: chair meetings, record minutes, act as spokesperson, and liaise with administration, AMS, and ASUS.
  • Collaborate with the ASUS Vice-President to develop the Orientation Budget and manage financial records.
  • Ensure smooth execution of Orientation Week and assist with all events.
  • Hold 4 office hours per week during the academic year.
  • Transition with the previous Orientation Chair Team, prepare a year-end report, and participate in the selection of the new ASUS Orientation Chairs, Coordinators, and Leaders.
