James Farrell has a diverse and extensive work experience. James is currently working at AscendEX as the General Counsel since March 2022. Prior to that, they held the same position at Paxful from August 2021 to March 2022. James also served as the Deputy General Counsel at Paxful from April 2021 to July 2021. Earlier in their career, James Farrell served as the Legal Director at Japan Tobacco International U.S.A., Inc. from December 2016 to December 2019, where they acted as the General Counsel for all U.S. subsidiaries. Prior to that, they worked as the Senior Litigation Counsel at The Hain Celestial Group from January 2013 to December 2016, handling litigation matters and expanding their responsibilities to include regulatory compliance and risk management.

Before transitioning into in-house roles, James Farrell gained valuable experience at different organizations. James served as a Brainroom Senior Specialist at Fox News Channel / Fox Business Network from 2007 to January 2013. James also worked at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, first as a Staff Attorney (Enforcement) from 2003 to 2005, and later as a Branch Chief (Enforcement) from 2005 to 2007. In addition, they worked as a Litigation Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP from 1999 to 2003.

James Farrell began their legal career as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Joseph M. McLaughlin at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1998 to 1999. Through their various roles, they have gained expertise in litigation, regulatory compliance, risk management, and legal leadership.

James Farrell attended St. John's University School of Law from 1995 to 1997, where they obtained their J.D. degree. Prior to that, they studied at Duke University from 1985 to 1989, earning a BSE degree in Mechanical Engineering. James'ssecondary education took place at Regis High School from 1981 to 1985.
