In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the launch of our endocrinology pipeline and have a significant impact on our commercial expansion.

We are seeking a passionate Senior Finance Manager to join our rapidly expanding global organization. As a key member of the Ascendis Pharma Italy, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all financial aspects of our business in Italy.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new established Italian affiliate and to become part of a fast-paced environment, collaborate with cross-functional, global teams working together to achieve extraordinary results.

You will be joining the Italian affiliate consisting of a handful of passionate and skilled colleagues. The number of colleagues is budgeted to grow significantly in 2024 and 2025.

You will report directly to Commercial Finance Director of Europe II who is based in Madrid, Spain, and work closely together with General Manager of Italy. You will be based in Milano, Italy.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Financial Operations Oversight: Lead accounting operations, ensure timely closing processes, and maintain internal controls for accurate financial reporting.
  • Revenue Management: Ensure accurate booking of Italian revenue, manage rebate provisions, and oversee cooperation with 4PL partner.
  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P): Review payment proposals, manage expense processing, and liaise with local banks for payment approvals.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Act as a financial business partner to the commercial organization, support new contracts, and participate in forecasting.
  • Group Reporting Compliance: Interact with Group reporting, follow group guidelines, and ensure local reporting requirements are met with third-party consultants.
  • Tax & VAT Compliance: Collaborate with Group Tax for tax returns, VAT, and payroll compliance, ensuring timely payment of Italian taxes with third-party consultants.
  • Administration & HR Support: Assist in office administration, human resources, statutory pension, insurance funds, and car leases.

Qualifications and Skills:

You hold a relevant academic degree – preferably a CPA or other relevant education– and min. 5 years of experience within Finance. It would be preferable if experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and/or start-up/SME environment.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Knowledge about Italian GAAP, IFRS, Italian Taxes and VAT requirements.
  • Hands on experience with ERP and accounting systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing efficient finance processes that can scale the company.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.

Travel: 30-50 days per year.
