Sarah Herzog

Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at Ascension Health

Sarah Herzog has a strong background in legal affairs and healthcare operations. Sarah started their career at Shefsky & Froelich as an Associate, where they focused on corporate, transaction, and regulatory issues in the healthcare industry. Sarah then joined Michael Best and Friedrich, where they served as an Equity Partner and Chair of the Health Law Department, specializing in corporate, transactional, and regulatory matters in both for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare and hospital systems.

In 2005, Sarah moved on to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, assuming the role of Senior Vice President & General Counsel. Here, they led the Office of General Counsel/Legal Affairs, Corporate Compliance, and Risk Management Departments. Sarah provided strategic and legal advice to the organization's boards of directors on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, commercial transactions, healthcare operations, and regulatory matters. Sarah held this position until 2016.

Currently, Sarah is working at Ascension, where they first served as VP Associate General Counsel for Ascension, Wisconsin and Northeast Ministry Markets. In 2020, they were promoted to Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Sarah'sresponsibilities at Ascension include overseeing legal and regulatory matters, as well as providing leadership and guidance in the organization's legal affairs.

Sarah Herzog has an education history that includes a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English from Stony Brook University, obtained from 1987 to 1991. Sarah then pursued a Juris Doctor (JD) degree at the University at Buffalo School of Law from 1991 to 1994. After that, they attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law from 1993 to 1995, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree with a specialization in Health Law. Additionally, they hold certifications as a member of the Illinois Bar, New York Bar, and Wisconsin Bar.
