Patrick Bray

Patrick Bray is currently the Director of Compliance at Ascent Funding. Prior to this, they held various positions in compliance and legal at Square, CQS Grosvenor, and GCM Grosvenor.

Patrick Bray joined Square in June 2016 as a Compliance Policy Analyst. Patrick was responsible for reviewing regulations applicable to Square Capital (commercial, consumer and installment lending programs), and drafting, reviewing, and maintaining policies designed to address regulatory requirements contained therein.

Patrick Bray was part of the team at Square Capital's inception to ensure Square Capital's compliance with regulatory requirements, and helped create a lending compliance program for both the consumer and installment lending programs.

Some of Patrick Bray's successes at Square included performing a complete overhaul of the broader Square, Inc. Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Policy to address deficiencies and plan for product updates, the introduction of a document management solution for use more broadly at Square, and the successful administration of multiple training modules to broad audiences across Square.

After completing their undergraduate degree at Indiana University, Patrick Bray attended the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where they earned their Juris Doctor.

Patrick Bray reports to Ken Ruggiero, Chairman & CEO. They work with Michael Middleton - VP, Product Development, Katie Miller - VP, Product Development, and Tristan Fleming - General Counsel.
