Carolyn Whittington has extensive experience in the hospice and healthcare industry. Carolyn started their career at Sutter Health in 1993, where they developed a Centralized Placement Service and implemented a community-based senior program. From 1996 to 2005, Carolyn worked at Golden Living as the Senior Director of Quality Management, overseeing a department of consultants for skilled nursing facilities. In 2006, they joined AseraCare as the Executive Director, successfully leading the start-up of a new hospice agency. Carolyn then served as the Chief Clinical Officer at Hospice of Santa Cruz County from 2012 to 2014, implementing culture change and expanding services. Carolyn returned to AseraCare in 2014 as the Executive Director, focusing on overall operations and achieving business objectives. Carolyn is currently the State Director of Operations at Asera Care Hospice, starting in 2017. Throughout their career, Carolyn has demonstrated success in improving patient outcomes and growing average daily census.
Carolyn Whittington obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Michigan State University, where they attended from 1975 to 1977. Carolyn subsequently pursued a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree in Community Organization and Advocacy from Wayne State University, from 1981 to 1983. Apart from their formal education, Carolyn also holds certifications as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and as a Nursing Home Administrator, although the institutions and years of obtaining these certifications are not specified.
