Michael Leonard has a diverse range of work experience in scientific research. Michael started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of South Florida from 2005 to 2007. Michael then worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Florida from 2010 to 2014, where they conducted various projects using next-generation sequencing and other techniques. Additionally, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at UCLA from 2014 to 2016, where they studied the transcriptome of a green alga and discovered novel long non-coding RNA transcripts. From 2016 to 2019, they worked as a Research Technician Associate at Caltech, where they designed and tested a platform for antigen discovery and identified T-cell epitopes. Their most recent role is as a Synthetic Biologist (Scientist I) at Asimov since 2020.

Michael Leonard has a diverse education history. From 2009 to 2013, they attended the University of Florida and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in both Microbiology & Cell Science and Computer Software Engineering. Michael then pursued further education at UCLA from 2014 to 2016, where they completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biochemistry, Molecular and Structural Biology. Additionally, in 2015 and 2016, they also attended the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, although no degree or field of study is specified for this period.
