Drew Mayer-Oakes has a wealth of experience in the film industry, starting with their role as an Associate Producer at Baxter Gentry and Associates in 1986. Drew then worked as a Location Coordinator at the Texas Film Commission from 1991 to 1992, followed by a position as a Locations Manager at the Houston Film Commission from 1992 to 1995. In 2004, they became the Director of the San Antonio Film Commission and later served as the Film Marketing Manager at the City of San Antonio from 2004 to 2015. In 2015, Drew transitioned to a role as a Film Consultant/Producer, where they managed professional and creative teams and organized events until 2017. Drew then worked as a Film Liaison at Film Las Cruces from February to August 2017 before becoming the Film Commission Coordinator at Destination El Paso from September 2017 to August 2018. Most recently, Drew has served as the Film Commissioner at the El Paso Film and Creative Industries Commission since June 2021, with a previous role as a Film Commissioner from September 2018 to June 2021.
Drew Mayer-Oakes began their education at Emory University in 1979, where they studied Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies for a year. Drew then transferred to Texas Tech University in 1980 and pursued studies in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies, Economics, and Dramatic Arts until 1982. Following this, Drew attended The University of Texas at Austin from 1983 to 1985, undertaking a degree in Radio-TV-Film and earning a Bachelor of Science (BS). In 1985, they engaged in advanced post-graduate study in Cinematography at the University of California, Los Angeles.
