James Clarke

CEO & Co-Founder at Aspen Midstream

James passionately leads the highly skilled Aspen Midstream team with more than 24 years of energy industry experience spanning from his knowledge in natural gas, crude, and power. His primary focus is creating and implementing Aspen’s vision and direction by leading the team to achieve Aspen’s business strategies. He has vast experience in deal origination and has implemented a customer-oriented environment to achieve Aspen’s strategic goals.

Prior to co-founding Aspen Midstream in 2017, James was a vice president of business development at Energy Transfer Partners. James worked at Energy Transfer for over nine years negotiating greenfield agreements and structured transactions. He has cultivated strong customer relationships with producers across multiple basins covering the Eagle Ford, Permian/Delaware, Mid-continent, Barnett, Panhandle, and other areas.

Before joining Energy Transfer, James was senior manager of business development at Crosstex Energy where he worked for over four years providing midstream services in the Barnett Shale and South Texas regions. James also worked for TXU as an electric power trader during the ERCOT deregulation implementation and other regions outside of Texas. Prior to TXU, James served in various roles at Dynegy in both the natural gas and power sectors.

James holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
