Vanessa Kosoy is an accomplished AI researcher and director at the Association for Long Term Existence and Resilience (ALTER) since January 2022, leading a team focusing on learning-theoretic AI alignment. Vanessa serves as a board member for ALTER, which promotes research to enhance the long-term trajectory of human civilization. With a background as a grant recipient from Effective Ventures for AI alignment research, Vanessa has also held positions as a research associate at the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, where research concentrated on mathematical formalization of general intelligence and value alignment. Entrepreneurial experience includes co-founding Epicycle Technologies and Metaqube, along with technical leadership at CyCognito and management roles at Mantis Vision and VisionMap. Vanessa's education includes an MSc in Computer Science from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a BSc in Pure Mathematics from Tel Aviv University.
