Sara Lotz

Sara Lotz, AIA has a diverse work experience in the architecture field. Sara is currently working as a Project Architect | Associate at HGA since 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Professional Development at the Association for Women in Architecture + Design from 2021 to 2022, where they also served as Programs Chair from 2021 to 2022. Sara has also worked as an Architect at HOK from 2021 to 2023 and as a Project Architect at Lehrer Architects from 2020 to 2021. Prior to that, they gained experience as a Project Architect and Job Captain at Wolcott Architecture from 2018 to 2020, and as a Job Captain, Designer | Project Coordinator, and Junior Designer at Architects Mosher Drew from 2014 to 2018. Sara also worked as a Project Manager at Mooch Exterior Designs in 2014 and as a Freelance Designer at Lot 3 Designs from 2008 to 2014. Sara started their career as an Architectural Intern at the County of San Diego from 2011 to 2014 and as a Graphic Designer at the San Diego Museum of Man from 2010 to 2011.

Sara Lotz, AIA pursued their education in architecture, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from The Catholic University of America in 2008. Sara then went on to earn a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) from the NewSchool of Architecture + Design in 2013. In addition to their academic achievements, Sara has acquired several certifications including LEED AP Building Design + Construction from the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) in 2022, WELL AP from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) in 2021, and an Architecture License in California from The American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2019.

Association for Women in Architecture + Design

The Association for Women in Architecture + Design (AWA+D) is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California that is dedicated to advancing and supporting the positions of women in the architecture and design fields. As a Professional Society it provides support to working professionals through educational programming, networking and mentoring. An AWA Foundation raises funds for scholarships for women pursuing degrees in the design fields. AWA+D membership reflects the diversity of the design profession. The organization welcomes those interested in all areas of design, including but not limited to: architects, landscape architects, urban planners, engineers, interior designers, graphic designers, environmental consultants and designers, artists, students, and others interested in supporting the goals of the Association.
