Julian Gravatt has a diverse range of work experience, spanning over three decades. Julian began their career as an Assistant Auditor at the UK National Audit Office in 1987. Julian then worked as a Senior Auditor at Price Waterhouse before joining Lewisham College in 1992. At Lewisham College, their roles included Financial Accountant and Registrar. In 2000, they moved to The City Lit, where they served as the Director of Finance until 2003. In the same year, they joined the Association of Colleges as the Director of Funding, a position they held until 2009 when they became the Assistant Chief Executive. Julian then took on the role of Deputy Chief Executive (Policy, Curriculum, Funding) in 2017. Additionally, they have served as a Governor at TEDDINGTON SCHOOL from 2015 to 2017 and as an External Examiner at The University of Sheffield in 2017.

Julian Gravatt pursued their higher education from 1984 to 1987 at the University of Oxford. During this period, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Modern History, achieving a First-Class designation.
