Artis G. Hampshire-Cowan is an experienced professional with a robust background in governance, leadership, and legal affairs. Currently a Senior Fellow at the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges since 2016, Hampshire-Cowan is recognized for expertise in board function and culture. As the Founding Principal of Leveraged Leadership LLC, established in 2007, Hampshire-Cowan offers customized training and methodologies aimed at enhancing organizational success. Prior roles include Senior Vice President and Secretary at Howard University, where responsibilities encompassed managing the Board of Trustees and overseeing university functions, and General Counsel for the District of Columbia Armory Board. With a foundational career in public service, including senior advisory roles and significant legislative experience within the Government of the District of Columbia, Hampshire-Cowan holds a Juris Doctor from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Morris Brown College.
