Joy Anderson, Esq.

Joy Anderson, Esq. has extensive work experience in the legal field. Joy started their career at County Technical Assistance Service as a Summer Extern in 2009. Joy then worked as a Summer Extern at Disability Law and Advocacy Center of Tennessee and as a Summer Intern at Atlanta Legal Aid Society in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

In 2010, Joy worked at Vanderbilt University Legal Clinic as a Domestic Violence Clinic Student Intern, gaining experience in family law.

Joy then joined Booker Legal Group, P.C. as a Law Clerk in 2011 before moving on to MCVLP where they worked as an Intern and Intake Specialist in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Joy's next role was as a Staff Attorney at Alaska Legal Services Corporation from 2013 to 2015, where they represented Alaska Native tribes in Child in Need of Aid (CINA) cases and provided advocacy for clients.

Afterwards, they joined Committee for Public Counsel Services as a Staff Attorney in the Children and Family Law Division in 2015 for a year.

Since 2016, Joy has been working at the Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP). Joy initially joined as an Associate General Counsel and quickly earned a promotion to General Counsel. In this role, they provide in-house legal services and advice to the non-profit organization. Joy'sresponsibilities include advising on policies and legal interpretations, drafting and managing contracts, supporting litigation, and coordinating tribal public safety initiatives.

Throughout their career, Joy has demonstrated a strong commitment to advocating for children and families, working with tribal governments, and staying updated on new laws and regulations.

Joy Anderson, Esq. completed their B.A. in English/Professional Writing at Oakwood University from 2004 to 2008. Joy then pursued their Juris Doctor (JD) degree at Vanderbilt University Law School, which they completed from 2008 to 2011.
