Michael Gugig

Michael Gugig has a diverse and extensive work experience. Starting in 1998, they worked as a Partner with Dentons (formerly known as Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP) until 2008. During their time there, they were appointed as the New York Hiring Partner from 2006 to 2009. From 2010 to 2014, Michael served as a Partner and Co-Chair of the Insurance Practice Group at Saul Ewing LLP. Michael'sresponsibilities included strategizing with senior client legal and business leaders, advising and representing various clients on litigation, compliance, and negotiations.

In 2014, Michael joined Genworth as the General Counsel for Long Term Care Insurance. Michael led the entire legal function for the insurer's largest business line, collaborating closely with senior leaders on strategy development and execution, risk mitigation, and state government relations.

In 2016, Michael joined Transamerica as the Vice President of State Government Relations and Associate General Counsel. Michael then advanced to the position of Vice President, Senior Director of State Government Relations and Associate General Counsel in 2021. Michael'sroles at Transamerica included leading and managing the state government relations function nationally, collaborating with senior leadership on public policy efforts, and preparing critical presentations for the CEO and Board.

Currently, as of November 2022, Michael is working as the U.S. General Counsel at Assured Allies.

Michael Gugig's education history includes a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Government from Kean University, which they obtained from 1992 to 1994. Michael then attended Rutgers Law School from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a Doctor of Law (JD) degree. Later, from 2015 to 2017, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Strategy, Leadership & Management from Michigan State University - Eli Broad College of Business. Additionally, during the same time period, they also obtained another Master of Science (MS) degree, but this time in Management, Leadership & Strategy from the same institution.
