Job Description:

As an Astera Labs Director of Quality Engineering, you will establish yourself as the champion responsible for quality management to the world’s leading cloud service providers. In this role, you will need to apply your quality experience across four domains:  customer quality (returns root cause analysis and corrective action), supplier quality (audits, yield), new product development (reliability qualifications, design for reliability), and regulatory compliance (ISO, RoHS, conflict materials, safety, exports, electromagnetic interference).  Some international travel required, approximately 10%, but varies based on company needs.

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.  
  • Minimum of 10 years’ quality engineering experience including supplier/customer quality management, managing manufacturing excursions, failure analysis and overall 8D problem solving.
  • Excellent soft skills with the ability to prioritize a dynamic list of multiple tasks, grow your network, influence without authority, and communicate effectively at all levels. 
  • Have recruited and retained high performing Quality Engineering Teams
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English.

Required experience:

  • Proven track record working with large manufacturing (ODM/OEM) partners.
  • Demonstrating excellent skills with relationship management in both supplier and customer roles.
  • Deeply knowledgeable with standards such as IPC, JEDEC, REACH, RoHS, and ISO9001.
  • Depth in PCBA Quality challenges, able to help drive resolution to local supplier hardware quality risks
  • Develop and drive to completion the necessary corrective and preventive actions.
  • At a minimum, all candidates must have a strong quality toolkit that will make them a good facilitator of the cross-functional problem-solving process for issues originating at either the customer or supplier.  However, the preferred candidate couples this with solid hands-on lab experience in searching for root cause of issues, and testing out potential corrective actions.
  • Python programming.  Atlassian toolkit (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).  CAD layout Tools.
  • Knowledge of high-speed protocols like PCIe, Ethernet, PAM4, DDR, etc.
