Principal Platform Application Engineer at Astera Labs

Michel Kakulphimp has a diverse work experience in various technical roles. From 2022, they are working at Astera Labs as a Principal Platform Application Engineer. Prior to that, they were a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) Silicon Design Engineer at AMD from 2021 to 2022. Before joining AMD, they worked at Intel Corporation, starting as a Hardware Engineer from 2014 to 2021, and then as a Senior Hardware Engineer from 2021 to 2021. Michel has also worked as an Embedded Systems Engineer Co-op at Intel Corporation from 2012 to 2013. Before that, they gained experience as an Electrical Engineer Co-op at Océ - A Canon Company in 2012. Additionally, they worked as an Auroral Research Assistant at University of Calgary in 2011, specializing in refurbishing and modernizing electronic equipment for astronomy programs. Finally, they started their career at Apple as a Specialist, where they focused on delivering excellent customer experiences and developed strong communication skills.

Michel Kakulphimp has a strong education background in engineering. Michel began their education at Camosun College in 2010, where they earned an Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering Bridge. Michel then attended NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) from 2008 to 2010, where they obtained an Honors Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology.

Continuing their education, Kakulphimp enrolled at the University of Victoria from 2011 to 2014, earning a Bachelor of Engineering With Distinction in Electrical Engineering. Michel concluded their formal education at The University of British Columbia, from 2017 to 2022, where they pursued a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

In addition to their academic achievements, Kakulphimp has obtained an Amateur Radio Operator - Basic with Honours certification from the Government of Canada in June 2020.
