Finny Varghese

Finny Varghese is an accomplished virologist with extensive experience in research and leadership roles. Currently serving as Associate Director of Virology and Team Lead for Biological Starting Materials at uniQure since September 2020, Finny leads a team focused on the production of recombinant baculoviruses and plasmids for rAAV GMP manufacturing and drives improvements in baculovirus and cell line platforms. Previously, as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Radboudumc from September 2016 to August 2020, Finny characterized piRNA-binding PIWI proteins in Aedes albopictus and explored the antiviral properties of piRNA species. Finny's doctoral research at the University of Helsinki involved high-throughput screening for antiviral compounds against Chikungunya virus. Finny holds a Master of Science in Virology from the National Institute of Virology and a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Wilson College.
