Wei Wang

Wei Wang has a diverse work experience, with their most recent role being the Senior Director of Engineering at Astronomer. At Astronomer, they managed engineering teams responsible for developing Astro Cloud, a cloud-native data orchestration platform. Wei successfully expanded the availability of this platform to three major public clouds.

Prior to their role at Astronomer, Wei worked at Electronic Arts as the Director of Engineering for almost a decade. In this role, they supervised various teams, ensuring the robustness and resilience of cloud services and infrastructure. Wei also collaborated closely with cross-functional teams and game studios to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

Before Electronic Arts, Wei worked at Tagged as the Recommendation Algorithm Lead, where they developed recommendation systems based on user preferences and activity records.

Earlier in their career, Wei held roles at Ask.com (IAC Search & Media) and Ask Jeeves, where they oversaw search relevance, online search infrastructure, and frontend service teams. Wei played a key role in developing and delivering innovative search products and improving search result freshness.

Wei started their career at Teoma as a Senior Software Engineer, where they contributed to building the "TEOMA" search engine and implemented information retrieval algorithms.

Wei Wang has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University, which was obtained from 2001 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science in Computer Science at Rutgers University from 1997 to 2000. Wei also holds a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence & Pattern Recognition from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, earned from 1994 to 1997. Wei Wang began their education journey by completing a Bachelor of Science & Engineering in Computer Science & Engineering from Zhejiang University, from 1990 to 1994.
