Brian Wilburn, PhD has had an extensive career in scientific communications and publication planning. Brian currently holds the position of Senior Director of Scientific Communications at Atara Biotherapeutics, where they lead the global publications for various therapies, including tabelecleucel and ATA188. Prior to this, they were the Director of Global Publications at Atara, where they played a crucial role in publication planning and execution. Before joining Atara, Brian held various senior managerial positions at Amgen, where they led publication planning in the fields of neuroscience and inflammation. Brian also has research experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago and as a Graduate Student at the University of California. In the early stages of their career, Brian worked as a Scientist at Schering-Plough Research Institute and GTC Biotherapeutics, where they contributed to the development of DNA-based assays and generated transgenic animals for biopharming purposes.

Brian Wilburn, PhD completed their Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1989 to 1993. Brian then pursued a PhD in Neuroscience at UCLA from 2003 to 2008. In 2016, they also obtained the CMPP certification from the ISMPP (International Society for Medical Publication Professionals).
