Jim Gharib

Senior Director, Adjunctive Technologies at ATEC Spine

Jim Gharib has extensive work experience in the medical technology industry. Jim is currently working as a Senior Director of Adjunctive Technologies at Alphatec Spine since 2018. Prior to that, they worked at Night Hawk Engineering as a Medical Systems R&D Consultant, providing technical and management consulting services in electronic and software medical systems research, development, and manufacturing.

Jim also spent a significant portion of their career at NuVasive, Inc. From 2011 to 2017, they served as a Senior Director of Advanced Development, overseeing new technology review and development processes. Jim also led the technical and clinical aspects of mergers and acquisitions due diligence. Additionally, they developed a novel neuromonitoring technology from concept to initial release.

Jim also served as the Product Development Director in Europe, growing the R&D department and initiating the development of the Asena range of syringe infusion pumps.

Moreover, Jim worked as an R&D Program Director at Via Medical, where they were responsible for the final stages of development and market launch of a next-generation IV infusion system. Prior to that, they held lead engineering roles at IVAC Corporation (now BD/CareFusion), working on the development of various successful products in the medical technology field.

Jim Gharib has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electronic Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Jim also has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from San Diego State University. Additionally, they have pursued studies in Engineering Management at UC San Diego. Apart from their academic achievements, Jim holds several certifications including being a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, a Search and Recovery Diver certified by PADI, and a USCG Licensed 50 Ton Master/Captain licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard.
