Luiz Pimenta M.D.

Luiz Pimenta MD, PhD has a strong background in the medical field, with significant experience in various leadership roles. Luiz started their career at the Instituto de Patalogia da Coluna in 2000, where they became the Medical Director. In 2006, they co-founded The Society of Lateral Access Surgery and served as a member of the Board of Directors and President until 2015. In 2010, they were appointed as the President of the World Spine Column Society. Luiz joined ISASS: The International Society for Advancement of Spine Surgery in 2013 and served as a member of the Board of Directors and President until 2014. Most recently, in 2018, they became the Chief Medical Officer at Alphatec Spine. Dr. Pimenta's diverse work experience and leadership roles demonstrate their expertise and dedication to the field of spinal surgery.

Dr. Luiz Pimenta pursued their education in the field of medicine, specializing in neurosurgery. Luiz completed their Bachelor's degree in Medicine at USP - Universidade de São Paulo from 1967 to 1971. Subsequently, they joined Escola Paulista de Medicina - EPM/UNIFESP for their residency in neurosurgery, which they successfully completed from 1971 to 1977. Continuing their academic journey, they obtained a Philosofical Doctor degree in Neurosurgery from Escola Paulista de Medicina - EPM/UNIFESP in 1980.
